John 8

Another great night,Reinhard Bonnke preached a very good message on John 8, on the woman caught in adultary and who should throw the first stone. At the end of the sermon, when the call to salvation was made, it was incredible hearing the crowd roar back the sinners prayer, and then sing out I Surrender All. Many lives were touched. During the singing what looked like mist rolled in, and we realised it was the dust rising from people dancing. There were about 200000 people here tonight, you could tell the density of the crowds have increased from last night and the traffic jam as we are trying to leave is a lot worse than last night. The little roads of Ogbomosho are resembling. The M25 tonight!

At the Fire Conference

Here we are at the Fire Conference on Thursday.

Living Bones!

Amen! God is very good. We are just leaving the Fire conference where thousands have been blessed by powerful teaching from Evengelist Daniel Kolenda on Acts 3 and Peter van den Berg on Ezekiel 37. The Holy Spirit ministered today and lives changed for eternity. Pastors and teachers will be leaving more equiped and empowered to speak Gods words and face up to some of the challenges in their lives.

Early Morning, Thursday

Good morning, our bus rolled out at 5:15 this morning and the streets of Ogbomosho had already started to stir in the cool, dark of this morning. We are about to have devotions, then at 7 am the Fire conference starts, which is a training time for the pastors and church leaders. It starts early, to try and miss the heat of mid day. Nigel (one of the CfaN guys from the UK) is sporting his black CfaN shirt which clashes with his early morning complexion, but maybe it helps repel the myriad of bugs that seem to like us a lot! Its going to be a good day.

Christians Praying Through the Night

5.30 pm: We set off for the campaign site. It was amazing to see how many people were heading in the same direction. A whole family on a motorcycle passed us – the daughter sitting in front of her father and behind them the mother with a baby. The motorcycle was fit for the scrapheap, they were not wearing helmets and the safety for the baby was an absolute disaster. However, I have rarely seen anyone in Germany beaming with happiness like they were. We overtook church buses plastered with “Bonnke posters” and packed to the brim with people; some cars even had people travelling in the boot. Our driver tried to steer the bus through the crowds. We drove past food stalls run by street traders and book stalls with loudspeakers blasting out praise and worship songs, drowning out the sounds of the people.

God Moved Tonight

Wow! We're on our way home after the first nights meeting. It was amazing, people as far as we could see, someone said something about 150000, I have no idea but there were a lot! There was much singing and dancing, as we all prepared for what was coming. Daniel Kolenda preached a great message from Psalm 51, on how God can create in us a new heart! Many people were challenged by the message, and there was a great response. Towards the end they prayed for healing, as a very solemn chorus of Allelujah rang out into the Nigerian night. There were some powerful testimonies and we were deeply moved by a crippled boy who was clearly healed. God is so good. It is amazing the level of faith people have here, while the sick were being prayed for, we watched a large number of very serious looking soldiers who had come to guard the State Governer who was in attendance, praying sincerely for various ailments. God can reach the hardest of hearts.

God is alive!

Tara here. God is very good! He is alive and continues to change lives. What a priviledge to stand on the stage and witness at close range miracles upon miracles. Hundreds declaring for the first time Jesus is Lord and then peoples physical bodies healed in the Name of Jesus. Amen! A young boy carried to the crusade after his body has been unable to enable him to stand for 3 years. He testified that Jesus had healed him and he walked up and down the stage. Tears of Joy rolled down his cheeks and his mother was overcome with delight. Our God heals today like he did in Acts. Amen Amen Amen. We also heard about a man who now can hear and woman can now see. God is so good.

Arrival in Lagos

We arrived in Lagos yesterday morning, and after a delayed start set off on the journey in a police convoy to Ogbomoosho. We were fortunate to have some incredible drivers as we wound our way through the traffic, a very memorable journey! As we got closer to Ogbomosho, there were hundreds of people for miles lining the road in the dark cheering and waving as our convoy snaked past. There is a lot of excitement here for the crusade there are posters evrywhere we look! Due to the delay we arrived in Ogbomosho at about 9pm, just time for a quick meal, and find our beds, spiders but our resident spider is missing a leg so we should be fine!

After a short night

Haven’t slept much. We’re staying in the best hotel in Ogbomosho but the rooms are small. There’s no wardrobe, the air conditioning isn’t working, the ceiling fan wobbles and only runs at top speed, and the toilet has no seat or lid. In the room it was hot and stuffy and I sweated a lot. Difficult for a German who likes to sleep with the window open. I did not dare to take a shower; it was too revolting. Perhaps I’ll be able to cope better tomorrow. For breakfast we travelled to a lodge owned by a church, where Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda are staying and where the team chef cooks for the CfaN team and around 35 international guests. There was everything you could want and it made up for the bad night. We then drove 20 minutes back to the hotel and I wrote about what I had experienced the day before. It took me 1½ hours. I had a lot to think about and digest and writing about it helped.

We are here!!!

We are here...praise the Lord! Mostly everyone who was coming with us from the western side of the earth has arrived safely in Nigeria. Mr. Russell has been doing a great job keeping everyone together and getting us where we need to be. My wife and I had the chance to meet Ms. Carrie and Amanda the winners of the contest from Canada and they are awesome. It is very hot here but CFAN has taken very good care of us and things are moving along smoothly. I can feel the excitement in the air, even though most of us have just flown into the city we are excited to see what our Father is going to do this week in Ogbomosho.

On the way to Ogbomosho

2.45 pm – the police escort arrived. We were off – incredible! Full of anticipation, we got into the cars. At 3.30 pm we drove out of the hotel grounds. This was the first time that I had seen an African city. Yesterday evening it was dark and you could see next to nothing. I was really shocked by what I saw: a chaotic tangle of electric cables, a lot of rubbish, corrugated iron huts, merchants selling used goods in home-made wooden lean-tos. I had seen pictures like that in books and on the television but thought that it was only part of the truth. Here, it is like that everywhere. A sea of corrugated iron huts, dense traffic and a vast swarm of people. Many of them looked happy, despite the conditions in which they live. Another thing that struck me was the presence everywhere of Jesus. Bumper stickers, signs on motorcycles.

A long wait

Six hours after we had crawled into bed, the alarm rang – 5 o’clock. Time to get up; the convoy to Ogbomosho was to set off at 6. We were just about properly awake when the telephone rang. It was Ilka. The departure had been postponed until 10 am. We sank thankfully back into our beds and slept for another three hours. I did not sleep very well; a strange bed, the lack of air and the noise of the air conditioning kept waking me up. Then I was wide awake. We did not bother with the 40-dollar breakfast and I ate a muesli bar instead. After my private devotion, we packed, checked out and waited to leave. The other CfaN guests gathered in the lobby. Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda gave us a friendly welcome. It is amazing to see how down-to-earth they are; they seem so ordinary and caring.

Arrival in Lagos

After a night with little sleep – as usual before an adventurous journey – we boarded the train to Frankfurt at 7 pm. I was accompanied by Lars Kortkamp, as my wife had to stay at home to look after our small son. At the airport we met Herbert Fischer, Thomas Meyer, our travelling companion, Ilka Johnnie and a cameraman. I was interviewed briefly by Herbert – a strange sensation in the middle of the airport terminal. And then we were off – my first intercontinental flight. The plane had three rows of seats and a TV screen for each person. Now I had a chance to chat to Lars again. We had a six-hour flight ahead of us.

Evangelism student on his way to Nigeria

Stephan, how did you get the idea to participate in “Win a free trip to Africa” I am a student with ICI and study Evangelism. So when I was browsing the internet looking up that subject you can’t miss CfaN. My eyes fell on the ad and there was a longing in me to also see something like this in my own life. Did you know CfaN or was this your first encounter with Evangelist Bonnke, Kolenda or the ministry? Well, I know about the ministry and Evangelist Bonnke for many years, but never had a real connection. When I went to the bibleschool “Beröa” for a sneak-peak around Easter this year, I saw a poster in the hallway which truly caught my attention.

From Canada to Africa

Q. Tell us Carrie how you came to know Jesus? I attended the Catholic Church as a child and into my late twenties so I have known about God and Jesus since very little. But what really happened was I had a crisis in my life that led me to know Jesus on a more personal level. In one of my deepest needs, He met me and I gave my life to Him. He is so faithful and has given me a new life with purpose and joy and there is no going back into the world.

4 more days!

As the days get closer to our trip the busier we seem to get. Packing, shopping and making sure we have everthing we need for the mission field, it gets a little intense. Especially when you know where you are headed... to see thousands upon thousands hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. CFAN has given us an opportunity of a life time and we are excited to see what God is going to do during these 8 days in Nigeria. When people hear the Gospel preached and find out how much God loves them, faith begins to rise in their hearts to receive.

7 Days to Nigeria

Wow!! The excitement and expectation is starting to set in. We are going to Nigeria, Africa with one of the most powerful ministries in the World in our day. My wife and I spent some time in prayer yesterday afternoon praying for the trip and the team members that will be present. As we really got into prayer the Holy Spirit began to emphasise some things to us during this time of prayer. Specifically these words kept coming to us: Unity, OPEN HEAVEN and Anointing! Our prayer is for the Unity of the Spirit to be amongst us and all that are involved. As we began to lift up Brother Reinhard and Daniel...tears began to flow and the phrase Open Heaven kept coming.

Off to Ogbomosho

Richard Meikle describes his excitement on hearing he was the winner of a £3,000 trip of a lifetime with Evangelists Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda. For the last 5 months Christ for all Nations has been running a promotion where two people from the UK were given the opportunity of winning an all expenses paid trip to attend one of Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke’s and Daniel Kolenda’s great gospel campaigns.
